There are still many reasons to go to college, even though universities have taken a lot of flak in recent years. Some people say that a college education isn’t the easy choice it was in the last 5 decades but things haven’t changed drastically enough to make it a bad decision. Because you can. The biggest of all the reasons to go to college is your sheer ability. It’s like someone who could learn how to read but chooses not to. A college education is your birthright. If you’re capable, smart enough, and able, why in the world would you not want to go? Why pass up an opportunity to meet minds of the same caliber and discuss ideas that could end up changing the world? There are dumb people out there that would give their left arm to go to college, but can’t because they’re just not smart enough.

Because it still pays. Maybe 10 or 20 years from now there will be less of a gap between college grads and non-college grads, but who cares? Right now it’s a statistical fact that college graduates earn far more than those without a degree. If you meet the first requirement of being able, it only makes sense to give yourself the best chance of success by getting a piece of paper that opens the doors of opportunity for you. Money is one of the best reasons to go to college.

These are outliers and their story is probably a lot different than yours.

You’ll have no regrets. If you go to college it doesn’t stop you from doing anything else, and therefore it leaves you with no regrets. You’ll never say something like, “I wish I could do (fill in the blank) but I can’t because of my college degree.” The same is not true for someone without a degree. Many times they’ll have a new dream or a desire only to say the phrase “If I’d only gone to college.” Why would you want this to happen to you if you have the ability to avoid it?
